3rd
Hole
Low
Handicap Player: Should use a fairway wood
or long iron and favor the right side of the fairway.
It is critical to hold the green with the second shot.
The green has a shelf, the right side being the most
difficult placement. Being long on the second shot
can put the golfer over the fence and out of bounds
or leave him a shot against the fence.
Average
Handicap Player: Should use a driver or a
three wood from the tee. He should favor the right
side of the fairway. Here a "pushed" shot
may land on the hill and not offer an "appealing"
shot to the green. The ditch that runs down the left
'side of the fairway is equally "unappealing"
since this will force the player to either "drop"
(and incur a penalty) or to chip out of the lateral
hazard. The player should be aware of the "shelf'
on the green and the problem of going long.
