Handicap Player: Here more "birdies"
are made because the player can "lay up"
at the optimum yardage to give them a shot at the
pin, therefore a long iron or fairway wood should
be used. Because the green is relatively flat you
can do different things with the approach shot from
80 yards, that you cannot do with a little approach
shot from 30 or 40 yards.
Average Handicap Player: This player
can use a driver and not reach the bunker. Here the
left side of the fairway is "major trouble"
as the green opens up from the right side. Being on
the right side of the fairway, even in the rough,
will leave a better shot than from the left side because
of the overhanging trees and sand trap. |
